A common question surrounding artificial turf is how to clean artificial grass. Artificial grass may seem like a permanent solution to a patchy and muddy lawn, however, don’t be fooled. Artificial grass is low maintenance, not maintenance free! It still needs to be cleaned every 2-3 months depending on how frequently the lawn is used and how many pets you have.
Gardens, kennels or any other outdoor area used by pets can become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, produced from pet waste. As well as bacteria, pet waste produces ammonia gases which create a strong, nasty odour that comes from urine and faeces.
How to clean artificial grass?
Here at K9 Turf, we recommend you use an enzyme cleaner, such as our K9 Turf Enzyme Cleaner. Always use the cleaner your manufacturer recommends.
As well as masking odours, K9 Turf Enzyme Cleaner penetrates the turfs surface, and kills bacteria. It travels through the turf to the subbase, following the trail from pet waste eliminating every particle. The product acts as an organic waste degrader, controlling ammonia which can be harmful to pets and children. How To Use K9 Turf Enzyme Cleaner
- Wet the artificial grass with clean water
- Apply the cleaner and leave for 5 minutes to allow the enzymes to activate.
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
- The enzymes separate three urine components from the grass which can then be washed away with a good rinse.
